For H1C model Holset turbos
This is a simple and inexpensive upgrade that provides a lot of performance for your dollar. By replacing the 21cm2 or 18cm2 on your truck, you will increase boost, low end performance as well as horsepower on your stock 1988-1993 truck. This is a simple bolt-on change. No modifications are required.
You can also install this housing on 1994-2002 HX35W equipped trucks to replace the wastegated turbine housing that comes stock. BUT it will require moving the downpipe just over an inch forward. This housing will reduce backpressure and should reduce exhaust temperatures on these trucks.
*When installing this housing on 99 and newer HX35W trucks, you should purchase the angled exhaust outlet adapter supplied by Cummins in order to ease installation.*

HOLSET HX40W and new SUPER 40 upgrade turbos.
Unlike many turbos sold out of the box, we make the necessary modifications so these turbos fit. The exhaust outlet is 4″ and not 3″ so we can also provide a downpipe for the 2nd generation trucks. The Super 40 has a redesigned 7-blade compressor and turbine wheel. The shaft is the same size but the assembly is precision balanced as an assembly with the compressor.

 

HOLSET new Pro 52 turbos.
This turbo is not a bolt on upgrade. It is for competition. It requires an exhaust inlet adapter to bolt it to your manifold. and it has a 4 9/16 exhaust outlet that you will have to get your exhaust attached to. This turbo has a compressor inducer measuring approx. 71mm and a 16cm2 NON-wastegated turbine housing. It looks like a good strong turbo.

Our HTB turbo series features strong, large shaft, extended tip compressor turbos for aftercooled Dodge Cummins engines.
With a 4″ exhaust system, free-flowing air box and fuel enough to burn, 350-625 HP is the comfort range for these turbos.
Since the introduction of these turbos in July 2003, our HTB line-up has featured extremely durable and responsive chargers. Even after the initial quick spool-up, our HTB turbos build boost even quicker than other hybrid turbos so that there is plenty of boost at low-end, for towing and, well, for sheer fun. The result is minimal smoke as well as even lower EGT’s.  We offer 4 compressor choices culminating in the 66mm inducer of Sled Puller. You have a choice of two different high-flow wastegated turbine housing set-ups as well. You can get great spool-up. You can get drive pressures down to 1:1 ratio at 45 lbs boost.

AN IMPORTANT FACTOR TO CONSIDER WITH YOUR TURBO PURCHASE IS INEXPENSIVE UPGRADABILITY. WE DON’T WANT YOU TO GROW OUT OF YOUR TURBO IN 6 MONTHS.
Our turbos can grow right along with your horsepower needs. When you send in your HTB2 or HTB2/64, we will upgrade the compressor to the next step up for only $150. When you send in your HTBG, we will upgrade the compressor to the next step up for only $500.This way you can’t go wrong. Your don’t have to purchase a turbo that is too big for you and you don’t have to risk getting one too small.
***A note about compressor choices – Our 62 compressor is the best choice for all around streetability/towing. The 64 and 66 compressors are primarily competition compressors. Approximately 10 % of our customers have witnessed excessive “surging” issues under wider range of driving conditions.***
We also offer turbine housing upgrades. Often we can take your HTB 12cm2 turbine housing in trade for a 14cm2 housing (or 14 for 12) for just $200.00. Also, we can often machine the outlet flanges to different styles.

Keeping EGT’s in check (1400 degrees at sea level), our customers most often report horsepower/torque in the following range for these models:

These turbos feature ported shroud compressor housings, well as dual ported wastegates with adjustable actuators set by our shop at about 40 lbs psi.
Keep in mind that boost equates to turbine speed and once you exceed “safe” boost levels of a turbo, any turbo will become a candidate for failure. Engine head gaskets and other components are at risk as boost levels approach 50 lbs.

Unlike the Schwitzer S300G or “Super B” turbos, we sell our HTB2 with a choice of 12 or 14 quickspool modified turbine housings. We also give you the choice of turbine outlet flanges (standard HTB2, HX40 style 4″ flange or 3rd gen flange). Other mods include an adjustable wastegate actuator and heavy duty bearings for durability.

4″ Downpipe and clamps – $180
For 3rd gen engines, we machine our turbo exhaust outlet to accept your stock exhaust adapter so no downpipe is required.
If you purchase a 2nd gen style turbo and want to use it on a 3rd gen engine,we have a compressor outlet adapter kit for $110.00.
 

The turbos for 94-2002 are “bolt-up” except for the exhaust downpipe. If you have been running an HX40W then our outlet flange will make connecting to your HX40 downpipe easy.
The 03-06 need not require a downpipe but we do offer a performance downpipe for the 2003-early 2004 since the stock exhaust elbow necks down.

A larger, freer flowing airbox (as well as 4″ exhaust) is a prerequisite for these high flow turbos. Be sure you get enough air to these turbos by replacing the restrictive air box on the 3rd gen trucks. Some “high flow filters” only flow 450 CFM. Please allow for 1000 CFM.

High Tech Turbo is proud to announce the new High Tech 71 Series. Our unique partnership with Borg Warner Turbo Systems (THE OFFICIAL TURBO OF THE DHRA) prompts the evolution of our product line for 1991-2006 Dodge Cummins engines (adaptable to 1988-90 also). Along with Borg Warner’s race proven large shaft and our High Tech bearing and oiling system, these turbos combine the many improvements we have made since the inception of the HTB2 turbo line:

  1. Improved oil drain tube clearance.
  2. Our twin-ported wastegate now provides up to 50% more wastegate flow. This results in better boost control for single turbo applications as well as twin setups.
  3. Our adjustable boost pressure regulators utilize higher spring rates supporting higher pressures.
    These actuators employ our new “Easy-Adjust” feature.
  4. Borg Warner Low Drive Pressure turbine wheels. AKA, the “Killer Wheel” (71mm instead of the 65mm HTB2 wheel).
  5. Factory 1-Year warranty.

The initial spool-up of these turbos might be slightly slower than out HTB2 series turbos but since the turbine wheels are low drive pressure design, they then build boost faster, offering you quicker acceleration.
These turbos should also provide a couple hundred degrees cooler EGT’s under heavy acceleration and heavy loads like towing.

Like our HTB2 turbos, this series uses high torque, extended tip compressors = 62mm/87, 64mm/92, 66mm/96. (Alternate compressor sizes are for comparison to Garrett Powermax advertised compressor sizing.)

These housings are relatively easy to change. (And since the turbine housing bolts often come loose on these turbos, it gives you an opportunity to head off more major problems before they occur.)
Your stock turbo is probably equipped with a 1.15 A/R turbine housing. We can supply you with a
1.00 A/R housing that will improve bottom-end response and increase boost.
 

A .84 non-wastegated housing is also available that will give you even more of the above benefits but it will create more exhaust restriction and reduce ultimate horsepower potential at the top end of your RPM ranges. But if you your main concern is simply low-end performance then this option is available.
